”Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.”
The world is a sadder place tonight as it mourns the passing of one of its brightest sparks. We all knew that the death of Sir Terry Pratchett was imminent, but its reality is a bitter pill to swallow. For many of us, we’ve lost someone who has been a constant in our lives since childhood, having been transported to other worlds by the sheer magic of his words. This is a legacy that will never fade and for that reason alone Terry Pratchett will live forever; but one can’t help but mourn the loss of a talent who’s wit, humour, imagination and storytelling has brought me a lifetime a joy by creating a fictional universe I’ve found myself often lost in. Words are powerful things, and Terry Pratchett weaved a pen like a wand to create magic. His words will continue to empower, inspire and transport readers to other plains for generations to come; but tonight the world is a sad place to live in.
R.I.P. Sir Terry, and thank you for allowing us into the beautiful place that was your imagination.
